Sorainen partner Toomas Prangli tops Mergermarket’s CEE 2016 legal adviser table by number of deals advised.
After several years of a sluggish market, mergers and acquisitions (M&A) in Estonia hit a record deal volume and value in 2016. According to comments given to Estonian business daily Äripäev by Toomas Prangli, co-managing partner of Sorainen, the activity level of the Estonian M&A market can be compared to the pre-crisis level, with total deal value jumping to EUR 409 million in 2016 from EUR 71 million in 2015 and deal volume to EUR 31 million from just EUR 13 million.
“I would be cautious in calling it a boom, but the activity level looks similar to the years of 2006-2008,” said Prangli. He added that 2017 promises to be as active as the previous year, unless a major macroeconomic crisis occurs.
