We assisted Pon.Bike, a global leader in the bicycle industry, in negotiating and signing an agreement with YIT Lietuva, a sustainable urban development and construction company, for the construction of a 40,000 m2 manufacturing facility in Kėdainiai Free Economic Zone (FEZ) in Lithuania.
This will be the company’s eighth factory and will meet the highest standards of sustainability and clean production through the use of modern technologies. The company’s other factories are situated in the Netherlands, Germany, the US and Brazil.
Sustainable solutions in the factory
The factory in Kėdainiai FEZ is planned to open its doors and start operating in the middle of 2024. The three-storey building will house bicycle assembly and paint workshops, as well as a warehouse and administrative offices.
The production building has been designed by 2L Architects. It will be built in accordance with the Breeam Excellent Sustainable Buildings certification in order, to ensure the building’s operational efficiency and environmental friendliness, and to provide a high-quality workplace for the factory employees. The developer, YIT Lietuva, will start the first stage of construction in December this year.
The factory will have an A++ energy rating and will be self-sufficient, with 10,000 m2 of solar panels installed on its roof to generate electricity. It will also feature other “green” solutions, such as charging stations for electric bikes and cars.
