The platform has made a commitment to permanently withdraw the TikTok Lite Rewards programme from the EU, and a commitment not to launch any other programme which would circumvent the withdrawal.

Commission sends request for information to Meta under the Digital Services Act

The Commission has sent Meta a request for information under the Digital Services Act (DSA).

The European Commission is asking Meta to provide details about how it will continue to give researchers access to public data on Facebook and Instagram, as required by the Digital Services Act. This follows the recent closure of CrowdTangle, a tool used by researchers to monitor social media platforms. The Commission is also asking Meta about its plans to replace the election and civic discourse monitoring features of CrowdTangle.
