We provided pro bono legal assistance to the National Guard of the Republic of Latvia in advising and applying for registration of a trademark “Mana Latvija. Mana atbildība (My Latvia. My Responsibility)”.
About the case
Taking into account the wide public interest in the use of the sign so far to ensure its proper use, the graphic sign “Mana Latvija. Mana atbildība” has been entered in the Register of Trademarks of the Patent Office of the Republic of Latvia.
The National Guard, as the owner of the trademark, has the right to prohibit the use of the trademark if it considers that the use of the trademark may be detrimental to the idea and objectives of the leading-motive. The trademark may not be used for political and pre-election campaigning, including use in conjunction with the graphic signs of a political party or an association of political parties or an association of voters.
As a reminder, merchants may use the trademark free of charge by concluding an agreement with the National Guard, taking into account the style guidelines established by the National Guard, which can be obtained by contacting 27327669 or by sending an e-mail to zemessardze@mil.lv.
