Within the Shared Mission programme, Sorainen provided pro bono legal assistance to SIA Aswell, the developer of the mobile app Aswell. We prepared the Partnership Agreement – the terms and conditions for the corporate application’s users. Preparation of the terms and conditions was particularly interesting, because they covered a new type of business model. Thus, our advice also included analysis of the tax and food distribution regulatory aspect, as well as evaluation of consumer rights protection issues.
“Time to save something delicious” – against food waste
Every year, 88 million tons of food waste are generated in the European Union, worth an estimated EUR 143 billion. At the same time, 36.2 million people in the world cannot afford a quality meal every other day (the EC). Food waste is both an ethical and an economic problem, while having a negative impact on the environment as well.
Aswell aims to reduce the amount of wasted food. With the Aswell mobile app, anyone can help to fight food waste. Aswell will serve as a platform where traders and green-minded customers can find each other and collectively reduce food waste. The mobile app is expected to be made available to the public this summer. You can learn more about Aswell here.
