Publication that caused dispute
We provided legal assistance to Kaspersky Lab, a multinational cybersecurity and anti-virus provider, in civil litigation regarding defamation.
A member of the Latvian parliament published an article on his website and in the media. The article contained several false statements and accusations concerning our client.
Court decision in favour of our client
On behalf of our client we brought a civil claim seeking a public apology plus withdrawal of offending statements as well as damages for defamation.
The first instance court found that the statements by the member of parliament were false and defamatory and required publication of an apology, withdrawal of the offending statements and compensation for damage to the client’s reputation.
Current status
The judgment is now under appeal by the defendant.
