We provided legal assistance to Ivonna Plaude, Editor-in-Chief of Independent News of Tukums, in a dispute against Tukums Municipal Council for insulting her honour and dignity.
About the dispute
The dispute was connected to the publication of false and defamatory information in the municipal newsletter. In June 2021, Plaude applied to the court, asking for the information to be deleted and to receive compensation for non-pecuniary damage. Although the municipality initially did not recognise the claim, in August 2021, a settlement was reached in the case, as a result of which the municipality undertook to delete the disputed information, as well as to pay compensation to the plaintiff.
