We are representing one of Europe’s leading aircraft engine and industrial gas turbine producers in an arbitration dispute with a Latvian company. The dispute arose over a licence agreement for the broadcasting rights of a significant European sports event. The claimant alleges that our client owes the licence fee, plus interest and a contractual penalty. The defence arguments relate to the agreement being invalid and the claimant never having performed its obligations under the licence agreement. Additionally, during the case adjudication, the sole arbitrator at the Riga Arbitration Court will have to address the claimant’s major procedural violations.
