On a pro-bono basis, we are advising The Better Fund, an ESG-focused fund, helping female founders and gender-balanced teams in the CEE region get access to capital to scale world-changing ideas.
Empowering diverse teams
Most recently, we assisted The Better Fund in the process of obtaining an activity license from the Financial Intelligence Unit and registration from the Estonian Financial Supervision and Resolution Authority in order to act as a small fund manager to a limited partnership fund.
The fund is also planned to act as a Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR) Article 9 fund, i.e. the highest ESG requirements compliant financial market participant under the SFDR.
Our services and client team
We assisted The Better Fund in drafting the license application document package (including internal rules as well as data on the managers of the applicant) as well as on the establishment of the fund together with drafting all documents necessary for the operation of the fund.
Our client team includes partner Kätlin Krisak, counsel Jane Eespõld, associate Krista Ševerev, assistant lawyer Jaanika Vainula from our Banking & Finance team, and partner Kaido Künnapas from our Tax team.
We advised the client on a pro-bono basis as a part of the Sorainen Shared Mission program, aiming to support the faster recovery of our region from the health and economic crisis caused by Covid-19. The matter is important due to the contemplated social impact of the investment focus of the fund to invest only into diverse teams founded start-ups.
