Politically Exposed Person: A natural person who in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, other EU or EEA member state, Belarus or third country holds or has held prominent public office, including a higher official of the public authority (for example, head of state), head of government, minister, vice-minister or deputy minister, deputy to deputy minister if such an office exists, state secretary or other high level government official, a chancellor of the parliament, government or a ministry; a member of the parliament or a member of similar legislative entity; a member (judge) of the Supreme Court, the Constitutional Court or any other supreme judicial authority whose decisions are not subject to appeal; a mayor of a municipality, head of the municipal administration or other high level municipal official; a member of the management body of the supreme institution of state audit or control, or the chair, deputy chair or member of the board or council of the central bank; an ambassador, a chargé d’affaires, a chargé d’affaires ad interim, a special envoy and minister plenipotentiary or high-ranking military officer; a member of the management or supervisory body of a public undertaking, a public limited company or a private limited company whose shares or part of the shares carrying more than 1/2 of the total votes at the general meeting of shareholders of such companies are owned by the state; a member of the management or supervisory body of a municipal undertaking, a public limited company or a private limited company whose shares or part of the shares carrying more than 1/2 of the total votes at the general meeting of shareholders of such companies are owned by the state, and which are considered as a large enterprises in terms of the (Lithuanian) Law on Financial Statements of Entities; a director, a deputy director or a member of the management or supervisory body of an international organisation or international intergovernmental organisation; a leader, a deputy leader or a member of the management body of a political party, or occupies a position included to the list of persons who are related to Foreign Public Officials, Officials of International Organisations and list of state positions determined by the President of the Republic of Belarus, adopted by order of the State Control Committee of the Republic of Belarus of 29 December 2016 No. 27.

Politically Exposed Person’s close associate: A natural person who, together with a politically exposed person, is a member of the same legal entity or of a body without legal personality or maintains another business relationship; a natural person who is the only owner or the only beneficial owner of the legal entity or an arrangement (body) without legal personality set up or operating de facto in favour of a politically exposed person, for example with the aim of acquiring property or other personal benefit for the person who performs or performed the duties of a politically exposed person.

Family member of a politically exposed person: The spouse or a person equivalent to a spouse (a person will be considered a person equivalent to a spouse only if accorded that status under the legislation of the relevant state, for example, a person with whom a partnership has been registered (a “cohabitee”) ), parents, grandparents, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, children, children of a spouse or a person equivalent to a spouse of a politically exposed person, a spouse or a person equivalent to a spouse of a politically exposed person’s children (including but not limited to children’s cohabitees) and of children of a politically exposed person’s spouse or a person equivalent to a spouse, adoptive parents and adoptive children.
