Sorainen Belarus associate Aliaksei Vashkevich took part in organising the first Minsk Pre-Moot – a preliminary event for the Annual Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot. Pre-Moots are held around the world to give participants the opportunity to practice and prepare for the final stage of the event.
Other organisers of the Minsk Pre-Moot were the Belarusian State University, the Belarusian Bar Association, Centre for Resolution of Business Conflict “MOST” and Young Alternative Dispute Resolution – Belarus project. Sorainen and other law firms supported the event as partners. The event was hosted by the BSU Law Faculty and BSU Faculty of International Relations.
The Pre-Moot was attended by six teams from Belarus, Germany, Latvia, Poland, Russia and Ukraine as well as by more than 30 Belarusian and foreign arbitrators.
The winners of the Minsk Pre-Moot were:
- the best team – from the University of Passau
- the best oralist – Seema Murtuza, from Riga Graduate School of Law
- the best arbitrator – Fritz Gabrysh
