About me
As a counsel with the firm’s Finance & Insurance team, I mainly advise clients on insurance and reinsurance law. A combination of an in-depth understanding of insurance law and regulatory expertise with sector-specific knowledge enables me to offer the best practical advice to insurers, insurance intermediaries and insureds alike. I support insurance market participants with navigating the insurance industry’s initial responses to ESG and compliance initiatives when addressing SFDR and other emerging ESG-focused statutory and regulatory requirements
Professional highlights
Developing insurance business. I have helped international and national insurers, reinsurers and insurance intermediaries to start and develop their insurance business in the Lithuanian market by reviewing and advising on insurance and insurance distribution business model structures, policy and other documentary wording and service provision strategies to comply with Lithuanian law. I also provide legal support for M&A transactions in the insurance sector.
Coverage and defence lawyer. I assist insurers as a coverage lawyer in multiple claims regulation by analysing liability and quantum, coverage and strategies; while as a defence lawyer I defend insureds against claims. I advise clients on policy wording interpretations, coverage investigations and disputes covering the full spectrum of insurance policy types, including liability of directors and officers, professional indemnity, product liability, third party liability, trade credit insurance, property damage and business interruption, contractors’ all-risks, representation and warranty insurance, to list a few.
Insurance disputes. I am passionate about practising a solutions-focused approach in representing insureds in disputes with insurers. I help insureds to make notifications and present claims to insurers, review policy wording and advise on liability and quantum, policy coverage and indemnity, contractual interpretation, non-litigious matters and strategy.
Handling regulatory matters. I am dedicated to expertly assisting insurers and insurance intermediaries in ensuring compliance of their business, as well as assisting with regulatory investigations and complaints brought against them. I actively contributed to preparing the new Lithuanian Law on Insurance, which helped me to acquire an integrated and well-rounded perception of the legal and regulatory environment.
Business insider’s knowledge. Before joining Sorainen, I was an in-house lawyer at trade credit insurance company Coface and at Lietuvos draudimas, one of Lithuania’s leading insurance companies. My previous experience at insurance firms has given me a broad understanding of the subtleties of insurance products and the sector’s business specificities, which now allows me to offer the most rational solutions for insurers and their clients.
