The Lawyer recognised Sorainen managing partner Laimonas Skibarka with the distinction “Highly Commended” (second place) in the “European Managing Partner of the Year 2023” category, announced at the annual awards ceremony in London last Thursday.
Laimonas was the only law firm leader from the Baltic and Nordic region in this final round of the awards. The winner of the European Managing Partner of the Year title is Inês Sequeira Mendes of the Lisbon-headquartered Abreu Advogados. As a firm, Sorainen was also shortlisted in the “Northern Europe Law Firm of the Year” category.

“This recognition goes to Team Sorainen, which is the most client-focused, collaborative, and innovative team in our region. We will continue doing our best to help clients succeed, and in this way will consolidate our position as the clear market leader in the Baltic States. I also congratulate Inês Sequeira Mendes for this win, and I truly admire her character and achievements,” says Laimonas Skibarka.
Acting as Sorainen managing partner since 2015, Laimonas has dedicated himself to the strategic priorities of Sorainen: the best client service, empowering people, and enhancing collaboration and innovation. His leadership and ambition have positively contributed to our strong organisational culture, as well as the robust growth and overall success of the firm. During the last three years the firm’s revenue (reflecting value created for clients) has grown by 40%, and Sorainen is currently the largest firm in the Baltic States by legal headcount.
The excellence of Sorainen’s legal and tax teams is also mirrored by other recent rankings: Sorainen is No. 1 by the combined number of top tier rankings in the Baltics in each of the four major international legal directories – Legal 500, Chambers, IFLR and International Tax Review.
We were also the only law firm from the Baltic and Nordic region to be ranked among the top 30 most innovative law firms in Europe by the Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Index. The Legal 500 Green Guide recognised Sorainen as the only pan-Baltic ESG-focused law firm.
