Sorainen Belarus has been advising Geely International Corporation in implementing one of the largest recent foreign investment projects in Belarus – a joint venture with the Borisov Automotive and Tractor Electrical Equipment Plant (BATE). The project involved organizing production of engines equipped with transmission for GEELY passenger cars. The Borisov Engine Plant «Geely» joint venture was established on 31 August 2017 and registered as a Minsk FEZ resident on 1 December 2017. Total investment is expected to exceed EUR 500 million.
The team, which included partner Maksim Salahub, senior associate Viktoryia Mikhnevich and other lawyers, advised on establishing an engines production joint venture, adjusting the investment agreement underlying the project, support in negotiations between BATE and the Belarusian State, and on tax, regulatory, corporate, employment, and other aspects of the project.
Earlier, Sorainen Belarus supported Geely International Corporation with regard to implementing an investment project on passenger car assembly – the BelGee joint venture.
