Commission endorses the integration of the voluntary Code of Practice on Disinformation into the Digital Services Act

The Commission and the European Board for Digital Services have endorsed the integration of the voluntary Code of Practice on Disinformation into the Digital Services Act (DSA) framework. This integration will make the Code an important benchmark for determining platforms’ compliance with the DSA. The commitments have been built on existing best industry practices. It contains areas of demonetisation, transparency of political advertising, ensuring the integrity of the services and empowering the community.

Commission requests information from Shein on illegal products and its recommender system

The Commission has sent a request for information (RFI) to Shein under the powers granted by the Digital Services Act (DSA). They have requested Shein to provide internal documents and more detailed information on risks linked to illegal content and goods in its marketplace, the transparency of its recommender systems, and the access to data for qualified researchers. Shein must provide the necessary information by 27 February 2025.

EU launches InvestAI initiative to mobilise EUR 200 billion of investment in artificial intelligence

The EU has launched InvestAI, which is an initiative to mobilise EUR 200 billion for investment in AI. This extensive AI infrastructure is needed to allow open, collaborative development of the most complex AI models and to make Europe an AI continent. The EU’s InvestAI fund will finance four future AI gigafactories across the EU, specialising in training the most complex and large AI models.

The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), the EU’s financial markets regulator and supervisor, has published its first risk monitoring report of 2025, setting out the key risk drivers currently facing EU financial markets. ESMA has found that overall risks in EU securities markets are high, and market participants should be wary of potential market corrections.
