Commission launches a new Biotech and Biomanufacturing Hub to support innovative companies

The Commission has launched a new Biotech and Biomanufacturing Hub to support companies in bringing innovative products to the EU market and increase their competitiveness. The Hub will also help companies identify the support available to them at EU level and how to access this support to help them to expand and grow. It explains in an easy and accessible way different crucial information regarding, among others, the sources of EU funding available and the intellectual property protection that the companies are entitled to.

The Council adopts new regulation improving cross-border access to EU health data

The Council of EU adopted a new regulation which will make exchanging and accessing data at the EU level easier. The European Health Data Space (EHDS) regulation aims to improve individuals’ access to and control over their personal electronic health data. The EHDS will also provide researchers and policy-makers with access to specific kinds of anonymised, secure health data, enabling them to tap into the vast potential provided by the EU’s health data to inform scientific research, develop better treatments, and improve patient care. EU countries will be required to set up a digital health authority to implement the new provisions.

European Commission presents its Competitiveness Compass to boost Europe’s competitiveness

European Commission presented its plan to boost Europe’s competitiveness and turn it into a place where future technologies, services, and clean products are invented, manufactured, and put on the market. The Commission will act to close the innovation gap and boost productivity. This will be done by creating the right conditions for innovative business, especially start-ups, to thrive and to scale up.

Commission endorses positive preliminary assessment of Estonia’s third payment request for grants under the Recovery and Resilience Facility

The European Commission has preliminarily concluded that Estonia has satisfactorily completed the 18 milestones and targets set out in the Council Implementing Decision for the third instalment. The Commission endorsed the payment request for MEUR 112.3 in grants. The request drives to make positive change for citizens and businesses, incentivising the uptake of sustainable modes of transport and renewable energy, improving digital public services, reducing the gender pay gap and strengthening the resilience of the Estonian health system.
