Alternative fuels infrastructure: €352 million in EU funding for low-and zero-emission transport projects

The European Commission announced the 26 projects from 12 Member States that will receive funding to install alternative fuels infrastructure. Among those, a Latvian project “Elektrum Drive – e-mobility network in LV, LT, EE“ by AS Latvenergo.

Council Implementing Regulation (EU) 2023/1715 of 8 September 2023 implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/1998 concerning restrictive measures against serious human rights violations and abuses

Restrictive measures were imposed on another six individuals (prosecutors, judges, members of Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation) responsible for serious human rights violations in the Russian Federation and in the territories of Ukraine that Russia has temporarily occupied, including violations of freedom of opinion and expression.

Union of equality: Commission proposes European Disability and Parking Card valid in all Member States

A legislative proposal was delivered that will facilitate access to the right to free movement for persons with disabilities, by making sure they can, on an equal basis, access special conditions, preferential treatment, and parking rights when visiting another Member State. The Commission’s proposal introduces a standardised European Disability Card and enhances the current European Parking Card for persons with disabilities. Both cards will be recognised throughout the EU.
Digital Markets Act: Commission designates six gatekeepers

For the first time, six gatekeepers – Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, ByteDance, Meta, Microsoft – have been designated under the Digital Markets Act (DMA). In total, 22 core platform services provided by gatekeepers have been designated. The six gatekeepers will now have six months to ensure full compliance with the DMA obligations for each of their designated core platform services.
