The Boris and Inâra Teterev Foundation together with the ABLV Charitable Foundation have engaged internationally renowned architect Sir David Adjaye to develop a design for the building to house the Latvian Museum of Contemporary Art. Given the experience and reputation of the architect, it is safe to say that this engagement is significant not only just for the particular project but also for the whole development of Riga’s architectural landscape. The total budget for constructing the museum is currently estimated at approx EUR 30 million.
Sorainen advised the client in negotiations with the architect as well as preparing a “tailor-made” agreement on developing the design. The agreement covers a wide range of issues related to the design process and the split of liability between local and foreign architects, as well as comprehensive regulation regarding copyright issues, which is rarely seen in the field.
Partner Lelde Laviòa and associate Jorens Jaunozols worked on the matter.
