In line with tradition, every academic year Sorainen grants a scholarship to a student at the University of Latvia (LU) Faculty of Law. The scholarship aims to support students during their studies, in order to encourage their interest in research work in their chosen field of study. The Sorainen scholarship amounts to EUR 3,000.
This year’s scholarship was awarded to master’s student Ilze Ambrasa. Ilze, a second year student on the LU Faculty of Law Professional Master’s study programme, affirms that the scholarship will provide invaluable support for her master’s thesis topic “European Consensus, the concept and the problem of European Court of Human Rights case-law development.” The scholarship will enable her to access study literature and foreign scientific conferences on the subject.
The scholarship was awarded at a solemn ceremony held at a special event organized by the University Fund on 8 November, which was addressed by Sorainen partner Agris Repšs.
During the 2016/2017 academic year, 90 students from LU and other Latvian universities received a total of 19 University Fund scholarships.
