We are honoured to have received the Baltic States Tax Firm of the Year award at the ITR European Tax Awards 2020. The award, recognising the firm’s remarkable achievements and developments in the tax field, went to Sorainen for the ninth time.
Says Jānis Taukačs, head of our Tax practice in the Baltics and Belarus: “Receiving this recognition year after year highlights that operating as a unified legal and tax ecosystem across the Baltics and Belarus enables us to provide exceptional value to our clients.”
Major projects in the Baltics in 2019
Some of our projects that we believe really stand out in the market in 2019 would include:
- Assisting multiple clients on complex tax matters relating to issue of corporate bonds and assisting the Republic of Lithuania in an issue of Eurobonds on the most favourable terms in the country’s borrowing history (total value – more than EUR 2 billion).
- Preparing a report on introduction of a pan-Baltic covered bond legal and regulatory framework. The unified approach enables the Baltics to act as a unified, stronger and more competitive market.
- Advising HBO and Sky Atlantic on co-producing the highly acclaimed TV mini-series Chernobyl.
ITR award – one of the most valued recognitions for tax experts
Euromoney’s ITR tax award is the most prestigious in the tax world. Each year independent ITR editorial staff and tax law professors, consulting practitioners and tax executives from companies around Europe evaluate firms and present awards based on criteria such as size, innovation, complexity and impact.
