Partner Valts Nerets has earned a reputation for his extensive experience handling international commercial and BIT arbitrations in the corporate, commercial, trade, energy, transport, and shipping sectors. He frequently advises clients on private international law issues, litigates enforcement proceedings of arbitral awards and court judgments in high-scale cases, and advises parties on planning and protection of foreign investments. Partner Laurynas Lukošiūnas is an experienced litigation and arbitration professional, representing clients in various disputes, including shareholder and corporate, real estate and construction, restructuring and insolvency, banking, transport, commercial, insurance, employment, and more.
As the head of our dispute resolution practice, Dr Carri Ginter has litigated hundreds of matters in the interest of clients. He has a civil law background, combined with in-depth knowledge of EU and international law. As a respected arbitration expert, Ginter has also been appointed by the European Commission as an arbitrator for bilateral TSD disputes. Maria Pihlak, the newest addition to the firm’s partnership, helps clients solve highly complex and resource-intensive disputes before arbitral tribunals in Estonia and abroad. Clients have resorted to her expertise and assistance in international disputes whose total value in the year 2022 alone amounted to EUR 56 million. Among other notable cases, Maria is representing Windoor in a landmark international arbitration versus the state of Kazakhstan in the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes.
Partner Kęstutis Švirinas has represented and advised clients in international investment disputes before the International Court Of Arbitration at the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID). Švirinas has also arbitrated proceedings and represented clients at the Vilnius Court of Commercial Arbitration, the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce and other arbitration institutes abroad as well as in ad hoc arbitration. Having interpreted law as a judge, Chancellor of Justice and attorney-at-law since 1991, partner Allar Jõks has a unique perspective on the Estonian legal system. Allar contributed to developing the Estonian court system as a judge of the Courts of First Instance and Second Instance as well as the chair of the Estonian Association of Judges.
