We are proud to announce that our senior associate Linda Reneslāce from Sorainen Latvia office has successfully completed the EUIPO Trade Mark and Design Education Programme (ETMD EP).
About ETMD EP
The ETMD EP was established as an Education Programme within the EUIPO, the objective of which is to increase the knowledge of the legal framework of European Union trademarks and Community designs, in particular the proceedings and practices of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) within the community of intellectual property professionals currently practising.
ETMD EP lecturers include representatives of the EUIPO, including members of the Board of Appeals, university lecturers and highly skilled trade mark professionals.
Advanced knowledge of the EUIPO’s practice and tools
Linda mostly handles cases involving diverse aspects of trade marks, patents, designs and copyright, and she takes particular interest in trademarks.
Linda studied Advanced Trade Mark Law at the George Washington University in the US, which gave her a unique perspective regarding the application of trade mark law in the US.
The ETMD EP course provided Linda with further in-depth knowledge regarding the peculiarities that apply to European Union trade mark registration, invalidation and cancellation, and the requirements for use of quality schemes like geographical indications and designations of origin. Additionally, Linda gained valuable insights into Community design protection.
The knowledge Linda has obtained has already proven to be useful, and she has used it while consulting clients regarding various European Union trade mark issues.
