Last weekend, we hosted our first Legal Clinic at the Tallinn Music Week Conference in Estonia. Our team, including Helery Maidlas, Olivia Kranich, Vladislav Leiri, and Marian Moldau, welcomed artists, managers, music tech founders, and other industry professionals to discuss their legal questions.
The idea was simple: anyone could walk in and ask legal questions with no sign-up or cost involved. We had great conversations covering key topics such as:
- What rights protect creations in the music industry and how to document and enforce them
- How to avoid copyright infringement when the business model is based on using existing works
- How to create and regulate fair relationships with co-founders and collaborators from the beginning
It was encouraging to see how much more people in the music industry think about legal matters early instead of waiting for problems to arise. To keep things interactive, we also created a quick game to test how well your rights are protected, which you can still try here.
