In the recently released Legal 500 2025 rankings, Sorainen remains the strongest law firm in the Baltics, achieving an outstanding 30 Tier 1 rankings out of 31 research areas.
Moreover, our lawyers have also earned a record number of 82 individual rankings, recognising them as market-leading experts.
“When we first entered the Legal 500 rankings in 2004, we had seven top tier rankings and three individually ranked lawyers across the Baltics, which already indicated some typical traits of our firm – our firm and its teams were more visible than individual lawyers. That was not typical in the market back then. Now, celebrating 30 years, we see quite a development with these rankings: almost every team is top-ranked, and we have over 80 individual rankings. That means every third of our lawyers is ranked! When the firm is strong, the teams attract exceptionally talented and strong individuals. Now, we can support our clients in any business-related legal topic in our region; the more complex, the better, and we are happy that our clients know that,” says founder and senior partner Aku Sorainen.
Strongest team in the market
With our Banking, Finance and Capital Markets team in Estonia and our Employment team in Latvia achieving the highest rankings this year, the increase in Tier 1 positions strongly highlights our excellence in legal services.
The Legal 500 reports that Sorainen has “long-term experience and a positive track record in local and international markets’ in the banking and finance sector” in Estonia.
The employment practice in Latvia is described as “a very strong and professional team”, with significant expertise in handling matters related to employees, data protection, and establishing internal whistleblowing systems.
This also marks a particularly significant milestone for our team in Estonia, who, along with our team in Lithuania, have achieved the greatest number of possible rankings in their respective fields.
The individual rankings demonstrate that our teams are comprised of leading experts in their fields, further strengthening our position as the most highly recommended team in the Baltics. This year, we gained seven new individual rankings.
